Roman Catholic Q & A

Welcome to our roman catholic Q & A page. For starters I would like to say that there are certain things that evangelical Christians and Roman Catholics share in common. Both hold to the doctrine of the trinity, which is one God who revealed himself as 3 different distinct persons. Both consider Jesus to be God incarnate, or in the flesh. There are some other similarities but those are the main similarities. I will address some doctrinal questions and answer them biblically.

Q. What is the Roman Catholic way of salvation?
Roman Catholics acknowledge Jesus' death on the cross for forgiveness of sins, however they do not stress that Jesus paid the sin debt in full, they still maintain that one must perform good works (or be a good person to go to heaven) I have even read an article in a local paper written by a Catholic priest stating that a good person who does not acknowledge Jesus as Lord will go to heaven anyway if they were a good person.
 A. If you read my article on Roman Catholicism you would notice that I quoted Matthew 7:21. I  find it strange that a person who claims to get their doctrine from the bible would say that a person who does not acknowledge Jesus as Lord will still go to heaven. Jesus says in Matthew 7:21 that not everyone who says to him Lord, Lord will go to heaven, he later says that they did works in his name. If that priest is correct, then Jesus contradicted himself. It seems to me that if people who call him Lord will not make it in, there is no way that someone who denies him will. Consider (Luke 9:26) Jesus says "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory and in the Glory of the father and of the holy angels."
Secondly, in Ephesians 2:8-9 the apostle Paul writes "it is by Grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." So you see salvation is a gift, you cannot earn a gift. (Romans 3:20) states that no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, rather through the law we become conscious of sin. (Romans 3:23-24) state: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his Grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. I think that I proved that the bible says that we are saved by Grace, but if you are still skeptic, please get your hands on a bible and read these scriptures (Romans 4:23-25)(Romans 5:6-11)(Romans 6:23)(Romans 11:6)(2 Thessalonians 2:16)(1 Timothy 1:15-16)(Titus 3:7).

There will be more to come, so check back.
